Lawrence Peters is a country singer, songwriter, drummer and America’s preeminent electric washboard player, with a music career spanning twenty-plus years. He is best known for his involvement in the watershed Songs: Ohia/ Magnolia Electric Company album, singing lead on the track “The Old Black Hen”. He was a key player in the Lawrence, Kansas music scene before moving to Chicago in 1992. Since then, he has recorded and performed with dozens of bands, including The Lawrence Peters Outfit (which has a monthly residency at the High-Hat Club), Songs: OHIA, The Velcro Lewis Group, Plastic Crimewave Sound, The Golden Horse Ranch Band, The Harrow, and others. He spins a regular installment of “Country, My Way” at The Sportsman’s Club, and has semi-regular DJ gigs with “The Mutant Hit Parade” at The Crown Tap, The Hideout, The Whistler, The Charleston, The Owl, and Constellation.
